Altogether, 375 species of apparently wild state or released species which have established self-supporting breeding populations in Estonia or in neighbouring countries (i.e. categories A-C) and 5 species of unclear origin (category D) have been recorded in Estonia. 225 species are breeding here, 210 of them regularly. In winter 158 bird species have been recorded (regularly 109) and 215 while migrating (regularly 204). One hundred and fourteen species of vagrant visitors have been listed. In Estonia 13.4 million pairs regularly nest and about 9.4 million birds regularly winter.
